The IP Address

To be able to keep stuff in the Internet straight, each machine is assigned to a unique IP address. Internet Protocol (IP) address is primarily a 32-bit number normally expressed as four octets in a decimal number.

Every machine seen on the Internet has its own unique IP address. A server has a static IP address. The IP address is unique for every session and no two can be similar.

Every time one requests for a web page from a network, the system includes the IP address from the DNS Server. In order to straighten things out in the Internet, every single machine is assigned to a sole IP address. It is prevented from having duplicates so as not to confuse the system. Ping IP is a command frequently used to troubleshoot any network problems. It checks whether the IP address of a certain machine is available in the network.
